How does the Partnership
Program Work?
The Cutts Graduate
Reviews offers students anywhere
in the world a personal tutorial
program for preparing for the LSAT,
GRE, GMAT or MCAT. This personal
tutorial typically includes our lecture
materials in a video format, handouts
and instructions, a diagnostic test
and some phone tutorial hours through
which we can work together. This
is a self-contained program which
any student can use at home.
As a partner, you have
several options. The simplest option
is to let students know about the
Cutts programs and sign up any students
who want to enroll. Each student
would then work with us directly
from home. You would have no further
obligation to provide any services
or facilities to the student. You
would collect a referral fee for
your efforts.
A more involved option
would allow you to generate extra
income from the students, which you
would keep for yourself. For example,
suppose that you had recruited 8
students who wanted to study the
LSAT through the Cutts program. You
would enroll the students in our
program and collect your referral
fee for each student.
However, you could
also present the students with the
option of doing the program with
regular classroom meetings. You might
set up an 8 week program in which
students come into your center every
Saturday afternoon and Wednesday
evening for 3 hours. During this
time students could be taking diagnostic
tests, working on practice questions
individually or in groups or even
receiving individual instruction
from us by phone.. Many students
want the structure of classroom settings
and are willing to pay additional
for it. If you can collect, for example,
an additional $300 per student to
attend these live sessions along
with the Cutts personal tutorial
package, you would keep that income
for yourself, in addition to your
referral fee from us.
Please note that in
order to maintain our high quality
of instruction, under our agreement
you are not permitted to provide
instruction on the exams yourself.
This is important in order not to
confuse students or provide them
with inaccurate, though well intentioned,
information. We ask you not to discuss
questions, give suggestions, work
out problems or tutor any of the
subject areas. Your role would simply
be to provide a structure, schedule,
location and monitor for students
to do practice work on their own.
It is very important that we be in
agreement on this, so please do ask
us about it.
Note that our MCAT
program focuses solely on timing
and testing strategies, so that for
the MCAT, you would be able to offer
your own science review classes and
tutoring. You should be able to charge
up to $500 or $600 extra per student.
We can help you organize and develop
an MCAT science review.
Fees. Fee arrangements
vary but you can expect to receive
something in the range of $100 per
student as a referral fee.
Finding potential students.
There are a number of ways in which
you can capitalize on the audience
that you already have. You can let
parents of your own students know
that you are offering LSAT, GRE,
GMAT and MCAT preparation, along
with admissions counselling. They
may have older children interested
in these areas, or may tell their
friends about it. You can take advantage
of the fact that Cutts Graduate Reviews
is one of the most experienced private
test prep companies.
You can also add "LSAT,
GRE, GMAT, MCAT Prep" to your
Yellow Pages add, probably without
even increasing the cost of the ad.
If you are more ambitious,
you can put up flyers at a local
university or college, advertising
not only your own tutoring services
but also test preparation and admissions
counselling. You may even find it
lucrative to give talks to college
organizations, such as a prelaw or
premed group, again advertising both
your own tutoring services and test
preparation.
We will be glad to
work with you on ways to optimize
your exposure at universities.
Your possible earnings.
In a moderate sized city it would
not be unrealistic in a year to have
15 LSAT students, 15 GRE and GMAT
students and 15 MCAT students. Your
referral fee for this many students
would be in the range of $4500. If
you were to also run classroom sessions
and charge $300 per student for LSAT,
GRE and GMAT and $500 per student
for MCAT, you would keep an additional
$16,500 on top of your $4500 referral
fees.
Other ideas. If you
have some other ideas how to use
our program in your area, we will
be happy to hear from you. We are
interested in grant funded programs
for at risk or underrepresented students,
as well as other ways of helping
those who otherwise might not be
as successful. We're open to your
ideas.
