Cutts MCAT Program Personal Tutorial |
Summarized Comparison of the Two Programs
In the Classroom Style Program you work on your test prep with Jay Cutts from one or two months up to six or eight months or more. You can think of it as a one or two semester course that gives you the best of both classroom instruction and discussion and one on one tutorial.
Your course consists of:
The Classes:
While we do run on site classes in a few cities, most people attend our classes by web video conferencing. This gives you the flexibility of attending from home or wherever you are comfortable. It saves driving and parking time and dealing with bad weather and you can even raid the fridge in the middle of the class! Seriously, most people have found that being able to attend from the location of your choice has a lot of advantages and comforts. While it gives you a chance to interact with the other people in the class, it also lets you control how much you want to interact, if at all.
Classes are typically about two-ish hours. We go over problems, review strategies, discuss study schedules. We use a whiteboard as well as the video for full visual help.
The Web video conferencing requires a high speed connection but it doesn't require you to download or install any software. We will send you a microphone and headset, which will speed up your participation in the class. We will also send you a Web cam. You may need to install some software to run it. It is not strictly necessary but will help Mr. Cutts and the other students interact with you in a more class-like way.
Typically there is one video class scheduled per month. There may be months when there is no class scheduled. Because of the difficulty of matching everyone's schedules, there is no guarantee as to the number of classes that you will attend in the Classroom Style Program. Please check with us in advance if you have questions about your schedule.
Beyond the Classes:
There are many aspects to the Classroom Style Program, in addition to classes, that may make it a good choice for you. In fact many people choose it even though they don't plan to attend the classes.
The Classroom Style Program gives you a specific two to eight month or more study schedule. Even if you don't attend the Web video classes, Mr. Cutts will be working with you on your timeline and study plan over this whole time.
You have unlimited access to working one on one with Jay Cutts. You can do this by phone or can use the Web video as a one on one session. This gives you a chance to get help on problems you were having trouble with, to get specific advice on maintaining a good study schedule, to get individual tutoring on the patterns and strategies of the test and to get strategies for your particular learning style and needs, including test or math anxiety, poor test taking history, learning disabilities, non-standard English, etc. In fact, the Classroom Style Program allows you just as much individual help as the Personal Tutorial.
You pay one price for unlimited help for an unlimited number of months.
You can connect with other students from your school or area outside of the class sessions for study groups and support.
The Schedule:
The Classroom Style Program is very flexible. You can start and finish it at any time. Many people, however, fall into one of these three scenarios for the following Fall admissions:

The Cost:
There is one fee for the Classroom Style Program and it entitles you to attend as many classes as you would like, to work with us for as many months as you need and to get as much one on one help with Jay Cutts as you want. By comparison, the Personal Tutorial fee is lower but only includes two free hours of individual support and does not include classes.
The one on one tutorial that the Classroom Style Program fee entitles you to is for going over issues directly related to your test. If you want to get help on Personal Statements or other aspects of submitting a superior application, you can buy phone support hours with Mr. Cutts at a discounted rate.
If you don't get accepted on your first try, you can continue working with Mr. Cutts on your test prep for the following season without paying any extra.
